Getting to Know the Network is a podcast that focuses on the running of Charlton Athletic Football Club under the controversial network model of owner Roland Duchâtelet.

Since Duchâtelet took over the respected community club in South-East London in January 2014, linking Charlton to the other clubs he owns in Belgium, Germany, Hungary and Spain, there have been extensive protests against his regime that have made headlines across the world.

With dozens of interviews with key members of former staff in England and abroad, including six of the men Duchâtelet appointed to take charge of Charlton, Getting to Know the Network will examine the inside story of the Belgian tycoon’s ownership structure, how he operates, and the decisions Duchâtelet has taken.

Episodes one and two are now available, while episodes three and four will be launched early next year.

The Getting to Know the Network podcast is led by former Charlton digital content manager Jimmy Stone, who worked under Duchâtelet.

Dozens of interviews have been gathered over the past six months, encompassing Duchâtelet’s current clubs Sint-Truiden (Belgium), Carl Zeiss Jena (Germany) Ujpest (Hungary) and AD Alcorcon (Spain).

Also featured is Belgian top-flight side Standard Liege, which was an important part of the network until Duchâtelet sold the club in June 2015.

“When you see what is happening at the club it has been incredible – just story after story,” Charlton supporter Stone told the South London Press. “It’s a story the fans should know.”

Others have contributed to the podcast, but prefer to remain anonymous.
